What You Need Before Starting
Step-by-Step Setup Guide
Follow these instructions to implement this workflow in your WABlast workspace.
Create an Authentication Template in Meta WhatsApp Manager
Meta strictly requires OTP messages to use the official Authentication category. Go to Meta WhatsApp Manager → Message Templates → Create Template. Select category "Authentication", choose "One-Time Password (OTP)", and pick the "Copy Code" button. Specify an expiration timer (e.g., 10 minutes) and submit.
Sync Your Approved Template into WABlast
Log in to WABlast at wablast.datablow.com → Settings → Message Templates. Click the "Sync from Meta" button. Your approved OTP template will instantly appear with the "Authentication (Approved)" badge.
Generate an API Key in WABlast
Navigate to Settings → API Keys in your WABlast dashboard. Click "Create API Key", select the "messages:send" permission, and copy your secure Bearer Token.
Trigger the OTP from Your Application
Call WABlast’s Public REST API endpoint POST /api/v1/messages from your auth backend (Node.js, Python, PHP, or Supabase). Pass the customer’s phone number and the generated OTP in the parameters array.
// Node.js Example: Send WhatsApp OTP via WABlast
const response = await fetch('https://wablast.datablow.com/api/v1/messages', {
method: 'POST',
headers: {
'Authorization': 'Bearer YOUR_WABLAST_API_KEY',
'Content-Type': 'application/json',
},
body: JSON.stringify({
to: '+919876543210', // Recipient in E.164 format
type: 'template',
template: {
name: 'otp_verification', // Your approved template name
language: 'en_US',
params: ['849204'] // The 6-digit OTP code to inject
}
}),
});
const data = await response.json();
console.log('OTP Dispatched! Message ID:', data.data.message_id);Customer Receives 1-Tap Copy Code Experience
The customer instantly receives your branded OTP message with an official "Copy Code" button. Tapping the button copies the 6-digit code straight to their clipboard for seamless login.
